Day 235: Bryggen
***Update: Sadly, Bryggen is gone :( Maybe there will be another piece of Norway in SL in another sim :)
Welcome to Bryggen, a little piece of Norway in Second Life :)
Bryggen is based on a Real Life place. According to Wikipedia, its a group of buildings in Bergen, Norway. Bryggen is on the UNESCO list for World Cultural Heritage sites!
And they look just like these buildings here :)
These are a few retail shops, along with a pub (every sim has to have a pub! :P)
Bryggen occasionally has live music events.
Bryggen's owners seem to really like guitars! There are even "Air Guitar" pose balls here :)
Somehow, I dont think the RL Norway has these floating lounging areas :P
The back side of the Bryggen sim has some pretty waterfalls and paths...
Oh, and they do have a very nice virtual reality room! It takes a while to rez, but its just like youre there :)
So if you have a spare moment, stop by Bryggen for a peaceful stroll around Norway. And check to see if there are any upcoming music events :) Click on Search, select Places, and enter "bryggen" as the keyword. The SLURL is Alebi (84,46,25).
Oooo...look at all the pretty fishes in the fjord :)
Theres even a pirate ship here with treasures guarded by a pirate ghost! Heehee are pirate ghosts afraid of mermaids? :P

Those buildings look so pretty, just like little dolls houses - I must go and check it out.
I wonder what other countries have a little slice on SL - and have you been to all of them yet, wouldnt it be great to have a SL passprt that was stamped with all your travels on it!

Wow, I'll have to go see Bryggen. I've actually been there before, in RL. It was many years ago, and I was only there for a few hours, but I definitely want to see the SL version. I may even still have some pictures in a photo album somewhere.

Lyndsey, there are so many RL-type places in SL! Its amazing how many I see every time I look! Lol I cant believe all the places I *havent* been to :)
Ana, its pretty...a quite and calm place. I hope they have more events and concerts there!

Jacks, lol Im way behind on everything...seems like Im always catching up on something :P Heehee hope things will settle down after next week! :)
Just so you know, I think Bryggen is gone. There are some waterfalls but they are inaccessible, and all that seems to be left otherwise is an icy shelf with games.
Dear Anonymous, thank you so much for letting me know! Its so sad to see such a pretty place go. I hope it will come back again some day in SL :)
