Day 219: Tamique Island
***Update: Sadly, Tamique Island is gone :(
But fortunately, there are other romantic places in SL to explore...
Welcome to Tamique Island, a romantic haven of waterfalls and lush scenery. Its definitely a place for couples. So come here AFTER youve done your "Hey Sexy's" at Phat Cat's :P
Its your basic paradise :P You know, beautiful flowers everywhere, romantic walks, waterfalls and streams, and poseballs everywhere! :)
Oh oh and heres the artsy shot by the water. Its scary how real it looks!
Tamique even has its own wedding chapel...in case all that romancing works out :)
My favorite spot is at the top of the waterfalls, where you can sit by the fire and admire the beautiful sunset... (Force Sun/Sunset, or better yet, "Mouse Moves Sun" :P)
And Tamique has a cool dance area that sits on top of a giant aquarium. Are those sharks?
Dont worry, its a pretty strong glass floor :)
The Tamique sim is the home of residents Tamil and Clairvaux. They are kind enough to share their sim with the public.
Their beautiful house is also open for visitors. And they have some beautiful aquariums :)
For a romantic retreat, check out Tamique Island. Click on Search, select Places, and enter "tamique" as the keyword. The SLURL is Tamique (111,107,29).
Heehee I felt like flowers this week! So I made a flowery dress using a multi-layer skirt.
Its actually 4 flexi prim skirts on top of each other. They are linked together into a single object. Thats a lot of flexi panels :)
And oh, I made a couple pretty flowers out of flexi panels as well, one for the belt and one as a necklace. Ive wanted to try this for a while. Its the first time Ive used LoopRez Deluxe to make a flower :)
So Blue Poseball, darling...what exactly are we doing in this animation?

I'll definitely check Tamique Island out, if I ever get a date :)
I just wanted to tell you I love your tutorials. I just made my first outfit using the LoopRez thingie and a texture I made in the GIMP. It's not as nice as anything you've made, but when I first joined SL, I never thought I'd be able to make anything like this. Thank you!
Is blue getting fresh with you? You look like you are tryig to stave him off!
Another new reader here, who is humbly thankful for your tutorials! And I love the dress you're wearing in this entry, especially since yellow is my favorite color. :D
I was pleasantly surprised to see myself in one of your snapshots from the ballet. *grins*
Where would you suggest I go to find a light, natural skin that won't cost me a fortune? I found one I liked, then realized it was $2000. O.o The most I can spend is about 500.
(Deleted and reposted to add that I'm DeeDee Peccable in SL)
hehe you really stand out in the dress XD but i still love it, very pretty ^^
Dani, heehee you can always go to Phat Cats for the date :) Theres definitely a lot of people in SL!
Its amazing how easy it is to make things in SL! Thats probably what I love most about SL: the ability to create things I cant have in RL :) Good luck with your designs!
Pyxel, lol, Im not sure what that animation was :P But I had a weird look on my face and I looked like I was trying to choke poor Blue Poseball :P I guess I should have stuck around to watch someone try these poseballs :)
Deedee, were you at the ballet too? That was such a cool show :) I hope you enjoyed it.
As for skins, I like the ones from Celestial Studios (but they are L$1000). If you are new to SL, both Sin Skins and Tete a Pied have free skins for new residents. Also, check out Bare Rose: they have very reasonably priced items in general, including skins.
Also, LindenLifeStyles.com has very nice reviews on skins! Good luck :)
Tiana, it is a pretty dress! Seems perfect for Tamique for some reason :)
Hi I Love your blog and tutorials Ive learned so much! One thing I need to ask you about is making belts. I try to make prim belts using a cylinder but when I try to fit it, it doesnt really work as the avatar is always moving a bit. Besides drawing a belt on (which I dont want to do all the time), what can I do? If you've already done a tutorial on this I apologize, can you direct me to the page. Thanks!
Dear Anonymous, I typically make belts with either cylinder or torus (depending on whether I want a sharp or rounded edge).
A prim belt is an attachment, so it will stay with the attachment point (not necessarily with the rest of the avatar :( ). The best places to attach a belt are the Stomach or Pelvis. Try to bring the belt down as much as possible (towards the hips). The belt will NOT twist and turn with the avatar (so it will look weird with some poses), but the hip area doesnt turn as much. Unfortunately, its the best we can do for now...
I dont have a tutorial for making belts yet, but it sounds like a great topic though :) Thanks for suggesting it! And good luck with the belt!
