Day 154: Miss Second Life Finals Event

OK I wont leave you in suspense...

I won!!!!! Im Miss Second Life 2007!!!!!

OMG! Aaaaaahhhhhhh!!!!!! :D

Thank you so very very much! I am eternally grateful for all your support. You have made my wildest dreams come true!!!! Thank you! THANK YOU!!!

It was an amazingly crazy day!

The Finals Event took place at the Event Center of the Costa del Sol Resorts. Even though the Finals Event was scheduled to start at 9:00AM SL/PST, the sim was full by 8:45AM SL/PST. A couple contestants had to wait for someone to leave before they could join the show!

Here I am, in my Miss Second Life Finals gown :)

Some of you may recognize this one. Yep, its based on the Ascot Dress. Umm...except I lost some fabric along the way... :P

This gown took just over 4 days to make! Ill write more about this gown tomorrow (cause Im deperately behind on the blog and need to milk the gown for an entry :P).

So there we were! The 8 Miss Second Life Finalists together on stage.

Lag was very bad, so I think most of us just stood there. We were terrified to move for fear of crashing and getting locked out of the sim. :P

The Pageant Host introduced each of us in turn. And we gave our short speech on the topic of our choice.

I was the last one to go (probably went by height, cause Im the shortest :P). Here was my speech:

Hello, my name is Natalia. And I am a mermaid. :)
I was out swimming one day, when 3 fishermen caught me in their net.
I begged them to let me go, in return for granting them each a wish.
One guy didn’t believe me and asked me to double his IQ.
“Done,” I said. And he started reciting Shakespeare and analyzed it with great insight.
The 2nd guy was amazed and said, “Triple my IQ!”
“Done,” I said. And he began solving unsolvable math problems.
Excited, the 3rd guy said, “I want you to increase my IQ 5 times!”
I looked at him in shock. “Please,” I pleaded, “you don’t know what you are asking!”
But the 3rd guy insisted: “If you don’t grant my wish, I won’t set you free!”
So I sighed and said, “Done!”
And the 3rd guy became a woman.
Lol… Its old, but its still cute :)

I really am a mermaid, thanks to Second Life.
In Second Life, we can BE anything, DO anything, and BUILD anything.
In Second Life, knowledge defines our experiences.
Knowledge of what is possible, where to go, what to do, how to build things, etc.
Im not a computer expert or artist.
I learned everything I know from great teachers and people willing to share their knowledge.
That’s why Ive done my best to share my knowledge…
…to give back what Ive learned.
I write a blog at http://slnatalia.blogspot.com.
The “Getting Started in SL Guide” in my blog helps new people get oriented in SL.
My siteseeing entries recommend “nice” sims to visit, and fun things you can do.
My tutorials on building clothes, prim skirts, shoes, and hair help designers get started.
My hope is that SL will be so friendly that everyone can enjoy what Ive experienced:
The freedom to BE anything, DO anything, and BUILD anything.

I am proud to be part of Second Life, to have a chance to build the future.
Thank you for giving me the opportunity to be here today.

Then the voting was closed, and the dreaded moment came... waiting for the results...

Im so glad I was using Animation Override to going through some poses. I was so nervous! I doubt I would have been able to move or do things properly.

Then the moment we have been wait for: "OK WE HAVE THE WINNERS!" announced the Pageant Host.

"BUT FIRST I WANT TO SAY THEY ALL ARE WORTHY"
"ITS A VERY HARD CHOICE"
"AND TODAYS EVENT WAS JUDGED BY LINDEN HELPERS"

"AND NOW THE THIRD PLACE FINISHER FOR THE GRAND FINALE IS"

"HOPE..."

"CONGRATS HOPE!"

"AND NOW FOR SECOND PLACE"

"DIXII..."

"CONGRATS DIXII"

"AND NOW LET ME INRODUCE TO YOU MISS SECOND LIFE"

"NATALIA ZELMANOV"

I think I scared my mom with my screaming :P

It took me a few moments just to be able to type: "OMG! I cant type!" My hands were literally shaking!

It was all kinda blurry after that...

Here are the results from the Miss Second Life Finals.

Again, I want to thank you for your support and patience. I promise to get back to "normal" blogging soon... you know, writing about going to strange sims in cute outfits, while getting "Hey Sexy"'s from unusual avatars :P

Heehee I did warn the Miss SL Pageant people that Im a mermaid :P

Well Done Natalia!!!

Your gown looks amazing and i love your speach, very clever and witty!

I only wish i had been able to get into the sim for the voting. You have obviously put so much work into the Miss SL contest, and in my opinion are a very worthy winner.

I cant wait to see what adventures you will hae in sl now you have all this free time. lol

Congratulations on being Miss SL

Oh, oh, oh -- I'm so vey pleased that you won! No one deserved it more! That *almost* makes up for how mad I am at whoever is responsible for the Miss SL event.
I went in to SL last night and got all dressed and ready and this morning started trying to get in to the sim about 20 minutes before time. I kept it up constantly until I knew the voting was over.
I *so* wanted to be there and see you win! Congratulations, sweetheart.
[At least Virtual Angels benefitted from my frustration. I went there and spent most of my money trying to get my mind off it.]

Congratulations Natalia! I was just able to get my camera position far enough into the sim from the one next door to be able to vote. If you had been in the left-hand column of candidates, I wouldn't have been able to vote!

And of course I voted on the website too.

Your blog is a great resource. I'm so glad you've been recognized as Miss Second Life 2007

Chloe Streeter said...

Congratulations!

I was worried when I voted, as there were two contestants ahead of you (according to the results I was given). I'm so glad to see that changed :)

Again, congrats!

Unfortunately, I didn't make it to see you win but I did vote on the website! *grins*

Congratulations hon!

Congrats Natalia :) I remember way back when you first mentioned being in Miss Second Life... I knew even then that I couldn't think of anyone who would better deserve it.

Sadly, I too couldn't make it into SL in time for voting (but did on the web), but did manage to hear the news in real-time from a live news feed (thanks Miss Tombola!)

Congratulations again! :)

Cailyn said...

Congrats, Natalia! I kept my fingers crossed for you since I wasn't able to get into the SIM... but I did vote on the website :)

Hurrrrraaaaaahhhhhh Miss Zelmanov!!

The amount of work you put into winning is amazing--everything up there, except for skin and AO, is your doing :) But more importantly than the appearance is your spirit of helping. That's what this blog is about, and if people helped you when you started, you've returned that to the rest of us a hundredfold.

Oh, I want pictures of that doggie you won!

Thank you so much for your help, suggestions, and support throughout the pageant! I am so glad to have you as my friends along this crazy journey :)

Tina, the blog has certain been the highlight of my life! Its something I look forward to doing everyday.

Alyse, heehee you did catch the speech then...and the "fishing" comments from the audience :P

Lyndsey, no more adventure for me :) Im just going to write the blog and wish for World Peace... (wait a minute, this Miss SL ribbon is doing something to me...:P)

LadyAyn, Im so sorry the sim was packed! I wish we could have at least broadcasted the chat to the adjacent sims. Heehee Im glad you got some shopping done :)

Otenth, you are one of the creative people who voted remotely from the next sim! I didnt even know you could do that until someone told me! Thank you so much for going to such extremes! :)

Chloe, thankfully, the website voting was only part of the overall score (there were the Linden Helper judges and live audience voting as well). All 3 parts are combined at the end for the final result.

Bailey, Im so glad you could at least see. I wish we could have broadcasted the chat as well...although I heard you had quite an advanture yourself :)

Alison, thank you for the vote and your support :)

Ged, thank you for creating your wonderful LoopRez scripts. Several pieces of the gown were made from your creations :)

Cailyn, Im sorry about the sim being full! It really is a frustrating in SL! Thank you for voting online :)

Mamaa, heehee thank you so much :)

Talon, heehee I think Miss 2008 will have a lot of work ahead...the pageant has attracted a lot of attention, so there will be many more contestants!

Miki, thank you so much :)
