Day 145: Spikes in the Wastelands

OK, imagine a nice residential sim like say... Caledon.

Drop a few nuclear bombs on it. And you have the Wastelands! :P

The Wastelands is a residential sim. That means people rent plots of land and build things on it to a common theme.

The common theme here is post-apocalyptic. According to the Notecard, "think along the lines of: Fallout, Mad Max, Judge Dredd, Tank Girl, Auto Assault, Half Life 2, NeoCron, etc."

And heres the coolest part of the Notecard: "[K]eep in theme... Below 512: Castles and dragons don't fit in theme, Victorian houses do not fit, a playpen full of my little ponies don't fit, sadly." :P

And here are the luxury apartment complex :P

So what do you suppose all these machines do anyway?

Heres a "typical" home in The Wastelands. Heehee, guess you cant exactly pick one up at Serenity Falls :P

Because of the um... environmental problems, most residents choose to build underground.

Someone decided to live in a subway station!

The sim is full, and they are planning to expand! Who would have thought that they are running out of space with all that radiation? :P

Actually, the residents are quite friendly... in a post-apocalyptic way :) Folks tend to hang out here late at nights and on the weekends (SL time).

There is some light role-playing, like in Caledon or any other themed sims. But you are free to just roam around and explore. The sim is not damage-enabled, so dont worry about getting shot (unless you are wearing one of the approved weapons).

To come to The Wastelands, click on Search, select the Places tab, and enter "the wastelands" as the keyword. The SLURL is The Wastelands (2,66,0).

I wanted to do a post-Valentine's Day outfit, in a Gothy/Mad Max sorta way...

So here it is, Goth...with a heart :) Hey, Im a cute Goth, OK? :P

First, Ive never made fishnet stockings...so it was about time I made a pair. It was surprisingly tricky, because of the seam. I ended up drawing a line to create a deliberate seam.

Not to mention, Ive always wanted to try making those cool little metal spikes I see all the Goth people wear.

So I made some spikey shoulder straps and belt. These arent your simple tapered cylinder spikes either! They are 2 piece spikes, with a profile cut torus on the bottom to give those spikes some curves :P

Umm...help! Somebody, please help!

Now I know why I didnt see any mermaids in Mad Max...

Wow, it looks like a very interesting Sim!
I love your outfit, in particular the spikes :)

No Mermaids in Mad Max hey? Not in "Road Warrior"? Careful, cultural references narrow down RL identity :)

I love your clothes BTW.

Raindrop, thanks :) The Wastelands is interesting particularly if you can catch a group of residents there. I didnt see any event postings, so you may have to check a couple times. But def worth seeing :)

Just Some Guy... um... did I say something wrong? Isnt that the Mel Gibson movie with the funny looking people?

Just some guy said...

No, what you said was right, it's just that the movie was called "Road Warrior" in the US. So I'm guessing you're not from the US of A. I just thought it was funny how a harmless comment can give clues about your RL identity (like if you were trying to pass yourself off as American but spoke about "Mad Max", the wheels might come off). Not you personally...
...OK I'll shut up now :P

SLNatalia said...

Just Some Guy, heehee I didnt know that :P Im in the US (its in my profile). I just said Mad Max because thats what the Notecard at The Wastelands said :P

just some guy, actually, the first movie was called "Mad Max", the second was "The Road Warrior", the third was "Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome". (All US titles, as far as I know the same in Australia.) So Natalia was quite right to say it as she did.

Randall, lol I have no idea! I just remember seeing bits of the movies with a very cute young Mel :D He was always getting chased around by people in mohawks ;P
