Day 141: Speed Racer

Valentine's Day is in like 2 DAYS! :)
So what are you going to do on that romantic Valentine's date? Go for a stroll on the beach? Sit and watch the sunset at Apollo? Follow the trails of Acropolis? Or waltz the night away at Avilion Grove?
How about Go-Kart racing? :P
Thats right, show your date what youre made of! Take those hair-pin turns without letting up on gas. Run thru anyone who gets in your way! :P
Errr... oh yeah, its supposed to be romantic... :P OK guys, just remember the Golden Rule: LET HER WIN! :)
Igbo Karting Speedway is a 2-level go-kart race track filled with straight runs and hair-pin turns.
You can just come and drive around, or join in a multi-lap timed race.
Best of all, its all free :)
Just touch one of these signs on the wall to rez your own go-kart. You can even pick your own color! Mine's pink, of course :)
Remember safety first: So dont forget your helmet! :P
The go-kart sounds just like a little engine. It even has smoke coming out of the back!
You drive them using the arrow keys. And PageUp and PageDown changes the gear/speeds. There are 3 speeds. You run into walls less often in Speed 1, and more often in Speed 3 :P
To start or join a timed race, just go to the starting line and touch the blue starting thingie.
The track is pretty busy, so you will always find races starting. Just get into position behind the line and join in! :)
To come to Igbo Karting Speedway, click on Search, select the Places tab, and enter "kart" as the keyword. The SLURL is Igbo (79,234,351).
Im not a big racing fan in RL. Actually, Ive only been to 1 car race in my life. So I learned a lot while researching offical car racing outfits.
As it turns out, I discovered that not only are skirts acceptable in car racing, but actually encouraged. The shorter the better apparently. And not only are heels OK, most wear spike heels that go above the sliders in SL. :P
Heehee OK, so I made a cute little racing dress, complete with the checkered pattern that appears on most racing outfits.
And just for the heck of it, I made a helmet to go along with the outfit :) I made 2 versions of the same helmet, 1 for just holding, and 1 for wearing. Because this helmet gives you serious hat hair :P
Actually, you need hat hair to wear this helmet! You need a relatively small hair to fit it all into the helmet (or resize the helmet to gigantic proportions :P) The Tutorial Prim Hair we made in Creating Prim Hair Part 2 works fine. But since all the car racing models appear to be blonde, I decided to use a short blonde hair instead :P Im using the Modest hair from Diversity Hair (it was a special during the Big Hair Affair).
Have fun on Valentine's Day!
Oh, I feel like such a model! :P

Natalia, Darling -
I just adore reading your Blog - so entertaining and so informative; however, Miss Grammar simply must speak. I have never noticed this many grammatical, not to mention punctuational, errors before in reading your blog postings - are you feeling alright?
Here are a few of the items that jumped out at me - I promise not to use the dreaded red pen!
"Thats right, show your date what your made of!" you're
". . . its suppose to be romantic . . ." supposed
"OK, so I made a cute little racing dress, complete with the checkered pattern that appear on most racing outfits." appears
Miss Grammar will kindly step down from her soap box now.
Tina, heehee Im one of those people playing bumper cars, Im afraid :P I cant seem to let go of the gas, so I always bump into the wall and people on the turns!
Dear Anonymous, oops :P Thanks for catching these... Thats pretty bad. I was um... rush for a date at the time :P OK...need to check my grammar better :)
