Day 123: Dracula in the Moors

MINA HARKER'S JOURNAL
1 October.--... I thought that I was asleep, and waiting for Jonathan to come back... Then it began to dawn upon me that the air was heavy, and dank, and cold... It got thicker and thicker, till it seemed as if it became concentrated into a sort of pillar of cloud in the room, through the top of which I could see the light of the gas shining like a red eye... in my dream I must have fainted, for all became black darkness. The last conscious effort which imagination made was to show me a livid white face bending over me out of the mist.
2 October--Though much of the details elude me, I can barely recall some of my dreams of last night. I was in the Moors, a place dark and filled with fog.
I was in a grand castle. One I had been to before, though certainly not at this hour of the night.
There was a place where sorcery was practised...
And sights too fantastic to describe with words...
There were ghosts...
And creatures not of this world...
Caledon Moors is one of the Victorian Caledon sims with a darker, Goth-like theme. You can sense the difference when you cross the sim boundaries. The houses are still Victorian, but are most likely haunted by one type of super-natural or another. Caledon Castle and the Cavorite Mineshaft (the place with the claws sticking up) are the two largest structures in Caledon Moors. But there are many homes, stores, and gardens to explore as well.
And the vampires here are very polite. You can tell they have vampire teeth (because they sometimes stick out a little). But they at least greet you with "Sir or Madam" before they bite you :P
To come to Caledon Moors, click on Search, select the Places tab, and enter "moors" as the keyword. The SLURL is Caledon Moors (2,62,0).
This Victorian-era gown was inspired by the movie version of Bram Stoker's Dracula.
Specifically, its the red bustle gown that Mina Harker (Winona Ryder) wears during her... um... encounter with Count Dracula.
This gown uses a skirt similar to the 30-panel skirt from Padme's Picnic Dress to give it a "natural" pleat texture.
On top of the the standard flex-prim skirt are a set of regular and flexi-prims that make up the bustle. I was looking at the photo most of the time trying to figure out how to create a bustle using prims. I decided to create several layers of prims. The top layers use regular (non-flexi) prims that look like loops from a ribbon. The lower layers are large flexi-prim panels that create another layer of skirt, completing the lower part of the bustle.
Oh, and you may have noticed the sleeves as well! Each sleeve is a 12-panel V-shaped flexi-prim skirt, similar to the skirt on Blue Vision dress.
And last, but certainly not least, is the incredibly beautiful necklace/locket from my blog friend, Johanna Hyacinth. She's the one who makes all the cool jewelry stuff using amazing scripts! She now has her own store, and started selling all her incredible creations...Including this cool locket, which has a script to change metal, gemstone, and bling to match your outfit! So check out her store, Johanna Hyacinth Designs, at Kaemi (40,231,77).
2 October 10 P.M.--[Tonight,] I was not so sleepy as I should have been... I asked Dr. Seward to give me a little opiate of some kind... He very kindly made me up a sleeping draught... I have taken it, and am waiting for sleep... I hope I have not done wrong, for as sleep begins to flirt with me, a new fear comes: that I may have been foolish in thus depriving myself of the power of waking. I might want it. Here comes sleep. Goodnight.
