Culture (Art, Music, Museum, etc)

Live on stage, its...Nat the mermaid! :)

Here are all the cultural sites and activities (I can just hear all the guys groan :P): Art, Music/Dance, Museums, Discussions, etc.

Please let me know if there is something you would like me to add or take out. My only criteria is that it is a...um "nice" place :)

Art

Angel Dorei Museum: Contemporary art in a Japanese museum, set in a beautifully decorated Japanese romance garden

Center for Aesthetic Inquiry: An art sim dedicated to Full Immersion Hyperformalism (in other words, really cool giant moving Modern Art pieces ;P)

Cetus Gallery District: A dozen different artists in a single trendy street, lofts for artists, and a community/group for artists and art lovers

Crescent Moon Museum: The 2005 Best Museum in SL houses a collection of sculptures, paintings, and drawings; also hosts events

La Reve: An artist's home sim full of giant sculptures, beautiful scenery, and hidden places :)

Life Heart Beat: Abstract paintings in a Gothic castle setting; search for the hidden meaning in these pieces

Second Louvre Museum: A large and impressive collection of sculptures, paintings, drawings, and photographs in an equally impressive building

Virtual Starry Night: An exhibit of Vincent van Gogh's work from all over the world, including a number of complete 3D scenes built from van Gogh's paintings (must-see for art lovers!)

Zero Point: A modern art display of moving light and textures, with one of the coolest rides thru the Vomit Comet ;P

Music/Dance

Avilion Grove: Visit the enchanting medieval-themed sim for some formal ballroom dancing and walk around the gardens

Blarney Stone in Dublin: Popular dance/live music venue in Dublin, always full of friendly people

Caribbean Breezes Jazz Club: Come dance somewhere warm and tropical, with one of the largest pirate ships in SL, and many little private areas for chatting

Dance Club Review: A review of the top 3 "nice" dance clubs in SL and what to do in dance clubs

Galveston Island, Texas: Reproduction of a RL tourist destination in Texas, complete with attractions, beaches, and a popular live music venue

Multi-Media Arts Center (MMAC): A collection of different event venues in one area, from live music to club, couples dancing, Indie films, and comedy

Muse Isle: An music-oriented island sim, yet worth seeing on its own; drop by to check on scheduled events

Phat Cat's Jazzy Blue Lounge: Ballroom dancing and romance, a packed sim featuring a large ballroom, lots of people, and shops for ballroom outfits

Second Life Ballet: The first ballet company in Second Life, playing original ballet productions; performances are live, using custom animations with multiple dancers and original musical score!

The Shelter: Hangout for newbies and friends, and a popular live music venue with regularly scheduled performances

Silver Dollar Saloon: Wear your best cowboy or cowgirl outfit to this popular Country Western saloon in Second Life, complete with country music, line dancing, and bull rides

Thursday's Fictions: Extension of an interactive fantasy/dance movie, with cool effects, erry sounds, and really makes you think about life

Museums

I've been a resident for 5 weeks and I've gotten more good advice from your blog than any other online source. Thanks for a great contribution to SL, especially to us Newbs. (My Newb tag is fading fast because of your help.)

My partner, Kathy, and I have been picky with clubs. The one we keep going back to is The Purple Moon. Based on your likes/dislikes in clubs, you'd love it because Puck Ida, the owner, has put such a welcoming feel into this place.

And we just discovered a club that opened last week, ~FK~’s Sky Club over Norfolk Island. Fallon Kazan is the owner, and she has poured a lot of creativity and style into this special place. As I parachuted out -- that's how you leave!! -- I couldn't help but think of you visiting and reviewing it.

I like to read blogs with SL tour guides and I like to read the picture tab in Avatar profiles. They tell so much about the Avatars interest and let me easily find a topic to talk about instead of just saying "Hi, how are you?".

And, apart from educational sites and Sandboxes, I like places showing art and museums.

Concerning art in SL I like best the kind of art that is different, uses SL technology, let me interact, thrills and plays with me. As such, I like Angrybeth Shortbread's work that can be found in The Pencil Factory Gallery @ The Port (23,65,??).

Make sure to crank the speakers up and to take enough time when you are going to visit her place.
