Day 86: Barbie in Biker Town

I was desperately searching for a place to go to today (the one I had planned didnt work out). When I remembered a little town that my friend Sorcha told me about. So, I popped on over for a visit.
BTW, today Im Barbie 2.0 :) More about that later.
Its a quiet little country town called LIL SLurgis. Quiet, except for all the Harleys rampaging about town. Thats right, its the ultimate biker town of Second Life!
The centerpiece of the town is a beautiful showroom full of gleaming motorcycles. I dont really know anything about motorcycles, but these look truly amazing and life like. You can sit on them in the showroom and even see how their controls work.
The folks in SLurgis are extremely friendly and helpful. SLurgis is not just about the bikes, its also a community. The owner of the bike shop welcomed me, and a number of bikers offered me rides and tours. Well, you know me...I felt a bit shy and just walked about town by myself. I mean Barbie doesnt ride on Harleys, right? I think she has a little pink moped or something :)
Well, these guys did show me what their bikes could do. They make noises like the real thing. They can rev them, squeak the tires, and roar off with smoke coming out of the exhaust. They can even do jumps on the ramp in the middle of town. And oh, 2 people can ride on them, just like the real thing. :) These bikes arent cheap. But if you like motorcycles, its worth it based on the amazing things they can do!
And whats a biker town without a biker bar? Theres a nice size bar featuring live music.
There are also a number of shops in town catering to the...um...biker lifestyle. Hmm...so whats with all these tattoo parlors? :P
Of course, whats a biker town without some open road to ride on? SLurgis has a nice stretch of winding road that circles the sim. So you can roar down the countryside and scare the virtual wildlife :)
There is also a pretty Greco-Roman style house with beautiful ocean view. I guess bikers like to lounge in Roman villas after a long day's ride... :P
OK, I know all you guys are on the edge of your seats waiting for the SLURL: Every guy I know wants a motorcycle for some reason! So if you are a guy (hee hee) or if you like motorcycles, you have to check out SLurgis! To come to LIL SLurgis, click on the Search button on the bottom of your screen, select the Places tab, and enter "slurgis" as the keyword. And heres the SLURL: Epsilon (47,89,57).
Today, I am once again Barbara Millicent Roberts, better know as Barbie. Im not obsessed with Barbie or anything. But you hear about Barbie all the time in reference to all the perfect female AV's in SL. I have yet to see anyone actually dress up *AS* Barbie in SL (other than me :P).
I did a Barbie outfit back on Day 44. Since then, Ive learned so much about making cloths in SL! So, its time for a remake.
Also, I am thinking of building up this outfit for the Miss Second Life Casual Wear competition. Yep, Im going to start driving everyone crazy with that soon! :P
Except for the jewelry, this outfit is more complicated than the dress I wore for the Miss Second Life Formal Wear competition. This outfit uses a complex flexi prim skirt from the Day 81 White Dress, but with a different texture.
The boots are from the Day 78 Snow Bunny outfit, with a pink tint added to the furballs and a pink texture to the boot itself.
The top features a semi-transparent jacket and a shirt with a white-to-pink gradient underneath, similar to the Day 85 Figure Skating outfit. The design, however, is based on the original Barbie outfit, with pink hearts and stripped sleeves.
In addition, I am wearing flexi prim cuffs, which are effectively little skirts around my wrists.
And last, but not least, a flower necklace and belt, both deliberately made to look plasticky (is that a word?) with a Low Shininess. Of course, dont forget the Barbie "B" on the belt buckle. :)
Im hoping this would be a good start for the Casual Wear outfit. The guys at SLurgis liked it :)
Heehee I had to try one out!
Ooh...if my mom sees me doing this, Im going to be *SO* busted!

Natalia,
I'm really enjoying your blog. I'm fairly new to SL, but I'm learning quick. One reason I'm learning quick is because of your blog.
I'm really enjoying your blogs about building your outfits. I watched some of Project Runway with my wife this year. I know that I will never be a fashion designer. I'm just too boring.
By the way, I've loved both Barbie outfits. I'm a big believer in Barbie. I make sure I get all my nieces the best Barbie stuff. The best one ever was the Barbie Cruise Ship. That sucker had lights, sounds, and took like five batteries to power the dang thing.
I will also be a builder in SL, but my interests tend towards gadgets rather than clothing. Even though my interests differ, I feel like learned a lot about textures and clothing in SL. This will help me in my own building endeavors.
Therefore, keep up the good work.
Natalia! I'm glad you liked SLurgis!! It's fun isn't it? You're sitting on the bike I'm saving up to buy!! I have to work a few more nights hosting in order to afford it though ! hahaha
hmmm, I will have to check that out, riding fast through the desert appeals somewhat
ooh motorcycles!!! i am going there first place tonight! your blog is so great. most of the places i enjoy the most in sl. i found in your blog. keep up the good work ^^
Awww Ged, now you've ruin my image of Barbie! :P Shes so cute though, isnt she?
Dear Anonymous, welcome to SL! Now I want a Barbie Cruise Ship for Christmas! Heehee Ive seen some truely amazing gadgets in SL (like the Harley motorcycles in SLurgis, for example!) Ive started tweaking some scripts too, so Ill write more about that. I hope you a world of success, and please let me know if I can help in any way. :)
Sorcha, you HAVE to take me riding in your new Harley!!!! :) That would be SO cool...I cant wait! :)
Caterin, they are certainly cool and noisy! We should get together for a ride through the desert. Now I just need to find a pink moped... :P
Heehee Tina, if you like motorcycles, you will be in heaven in SLurgis! Fantastic bikes, nice loop, and great people! You will have a lot of fun. Say Hi to HD for me! :)
Hi there,
Nice blog, always fun to read your comments about your travelling!
Next time you come to lil Slurgis, maybe you could take a chance and jump on my bike; I'll make you a ride to remember... Only if you're not afraid of a Ghost Rider...
Desperado, wow its been a while since Ive been to SLurgis :) Lol
I like posing on the bikes, but I really am more of a moped-type person :P Hmmm...can we ride mopeds in SLurgis? ;P
Hey Natalia,
Yeah, you can ride mopeds in SLurgis; everyone is welcome :)
Now, if you like to pose on the bikes, you can pose on mine; it's a black easy rider kind of shape with flames on it; can't miss it lol!
Watch out for the Ghost Rider hehehe, and even if you saw Slurgis a while back; come on back to Slurgis, it's for everyone a really nice place to spend some time. There is a photo-contest going on right now...
Desperado, it was a pretty crazy place when I stopped by last year, so Im sure its gotten worse ;P
Hmm...Ive always meant to do a moped tutorial...:P
