Day 60: Pilgrim in the Jungle

Happy Thanksgiving! (for those of you in the US...) I learned today that Canada's Thanksgiving was in October. Thats the wonderful thing about Second Life...Ive met people from all over the world in such a short time!
So being Thanksgiving, I had a choice of either pilgrim or Indian outfits. I chose the former, just because I had a feeling there would be more Indians walking around today (there are Western role-playing sims in SL).
Anyway, I woke up, got dressed, and found myself in this jungley place called Svarga. Svarga is one of those places thats hard to describe. Its like Alice in Wonderland meets King Kong. Its just one of those neat places in Second Life that should be explored, preferably with a friend (its not REALLY a date place, but if you are looking for something to do on a date...)
Svarga is hugh! And everywhere you turn, there is something neat going on. It would probably take several hours to thoroughly explore this sim. So here are some highlights (i.e. things I bumped into...):
Next to the water fountain near the entrance (and throughout Svarga), there are these stands that sell birdseeds for $1L. Thats less than 1/3 of 1 cent, so dont be cheap :)
Throw some birdseeds on the ground, and in a minute or so, these *CUTE* little birds fly down to peck at your seeds! And they fly off once they finish the seeds (dont worry, you can reuse your seeds). Told you it was worth $1L! :P
And theres this thing called the AmbiPod. I have no idea what that means. But you get there by calling a pod from the bottom floor of the tall structure in the middle of the sim. The pod takes you straight up to the AmbiPod. If you (and your friends) sit on the ground, you get this floating sensory lightshow experience. Its hard to describe, so just try it! :)
Of course, dont forget to explore the giant structure in the middle of the sim. Maybe I should have worn an Indiana Jones outfit fot this...
To come to Svarga, Search under Places for "svarga". Svarga (128,128,0).
The pilgrim outfit today is actually quite complicated, using a mix of pieces from past outfits and newly built prim attachments. This outfit is built from prim attachments, not painted from Photoshop.
The top of the bonnet, for instance, is a hollowed/tapered torus tied by a thin hollow cylinder (could be a torus as well). The knot at the bottom is the same one used on the scarf from the Pilot Outfit.
The white collar is 2 twin hollowed/tapered tori joined together. It took me a while to figure out a way to come up with this shape!
The cuffs, of course, are slightly larger and flatter versions of the ones from the Pilot Outfit.
The skirt and apron was also based on an earlier outfit, the Yellow Dress from New Paris. This is basically a double skirt: a full black skirt underneath, and half a white skirt that makes up the apron. Throw on a little wrinkle and lace texture to finish the apron, and the outfit is complete! Time to go grab some turkey! :)
Ohh...I think I ate too much...maybe Ill just sit here for a little bit... I dont want to hear the word "turkey" again for another year...

What a great place Natalia! I can't wait to check it out. How do you find these places?
Hello Natalia, hope you don't mind if I ask a question...each time I want to try some new clothes on I go off and find some secluded spot and do my thing.
I kind of don't want lots of others hanging around when I'm doing this.
Do you know if there a another way I can try clothes on in private? It's feels a bit silly wondering off into the woods just to put a dress on.
I was reading over at Taras Balderdash's blog (http://tarasbalderdash.blogspot.com/) that Svarga was "almost saved" which certainly implies that Svarga was in danger, financial danger.
It is worth saving so buy plenty of birdseed or donate in some other way.

(Great blog BTW but I would look silly in a dress...)
Hi Sorcha, Caterin, and Seeker Gray!
Sorcha, Ive checked recommended lists and just random keywords in the Search menu for something fun. No particular system. I *try* to get a place that matches the outfit, but you see how successful Ive been ;P
Caterin, thats the main reason I bought some First Land and built a little house (so I can walk around half naked most of the day :P). Seriously, if you are a resident, then look into First Land as an option.
Alternatively, a few places (like New Citizens) have changing rooms. But these are not private. Unfortunately, privacy is difficult to come by in SL, even with your own land. I would recommend that you landmark a secluded spot in a low traffic sim. Use the AV Radar HUD and you will be able to see if anyone approaches.
Seeker, thanks for letting me know! Svarga is such a special place, I would hate to see it disappear. Hopefully, we can drum up some support.
BTW, great site, Seeker! We are doing almost the same thing...but you get to see it from a male perspective :) Keep up the great work, cause we need to get the word out!
Hi Natalia,
What kind of skin you do use? It looks terrific! Im talking about the one the pilgrimage in the jungle picture.
Sakura,
I actually use only a single skin: Celestial Studio's Passport (specifically the Monaco tone). I dont have a lot of $L to spend, so I prefer to spend the $L on hair :)
The only time I change skins is when I changed to a Goth outfit. I used the paler skin from Pixel Dolls for that outfit.
But just FYI...the Passport skins is the older line from Celestial Studios and is missing...um...certain vital body parts for certain activities. I care mainly about the face and skin textures, so its not an issue for me. Try out their excellent $1L demos! :)
Celestial Studios has other skins (Im thinking of buying a set of Charmed next).
Thanks for the tip. I went there and their Passport Malibu is still selling for 1000L. But in my humble opinion, you look like a Million Lindens so it going to be worth it.
Thanks Sakura! :)
I hope you enjoy your new skin as much as I do!
